Seared and slowly cooked filet of free range Icelandic lamb, glazed root vegetables, celeriac purée, rosemary and juniper berry infused lamb jus reduction, dust of dried wild Icelandic herbs and blueberries.

The idea behind Essensia was to open a restaurant in Iceland where people can come together, have a good time, enjoy high quality cuisine in a casual atmosphere and have a chance to taste a selection of courses. We offer a variety of courses at a fair price, not to fancy or decorated, but rather we let the ingredients shine. A concept of honest cuisine and style which will have people wanting to visit us again and again.
The design of the restaurant and total ambiance was done by the renowned italian architecture and design company Costa Group, including all interior and furniture. In the kitchen we have a specially designed Pavesi oven, a one of a kind hand turned Berkel cutting knife for the ham and sausages and of course Mareno kitchenware.
Our Essensia olive oil is especialy made for us by the Schiffini family in the Liguria area in Italy. It is sent to us exclusively labeled with our logo. We use the olive oil in our cuisine and it can also be bought in our restaurant. True olive oil at its best!
Our wine list is mostly italian wines, and we take pride in the qaulity of our list, our house wine is specially imported from Toscana.
